Santa Squad

December 23: The #LMCUSantaSquad wrapped up our final day of surprises by delivering treats to public service agencies. Our elves visited over 50 organizations across our geographic footprint! Thank you to those who stay open to keep us safe and sound during the holidays!
December 22: The #LMCUSantaSquad teamed up with the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation to surprise Grand Rapids Public Schools students at Palmer Elementary and East Leonard Elementary with holiday gifts. Each student received a special gift and shared in a fun winter story with an LMCU volunteer. Thank you to our members who helped by donating these gifts during our Holly Jolly Toy Drive! #payitforward
December 21: There’s plenty to do during the holiday season, but there’s at least one gift that’s always in demand! Today the #LMCUSantaSquad held blood drives at our corporate office with Michigan Blood. Employees could also register for Be The Match Registry at Michigan Blood which supports the National Marrow Donor Program that provides life-saving bone marrow and stem cell transplants to patients in need. Be a lifesaver and consider making a blood donation appointment today! http://ow.ly/F4wH307lRjE

December 15: Did you know over 70% of the LMCU workforce is made up of women? That’s why we love supporting organizations like the Women’s Resource Center whose mission is to improve women’s workplace and economic opportunities. Today we delivered new and gently used women’s professional attire to their Working Women’s Clothing Closet which provides a comfortable environment where women can develop their professional appearance and attitude!
December 14: Today our SE Michigan staff is in Detroit to volunteer at the Westside Food Distribution Center at Focus:HOPE. Focus: HOPE aims to overcome racism and poverty by providing education and training in addition to operating four food distribution centers for senior citizens across Detroit. #LMCUSantaSquad
December 13: Feeling stressed this month? We wanted to take the pressure off of area college students by passing out treats to get them through exam week. Students, you’re almost to the finish line!
December 12: It’s time to dust off our aprons and cooking skills, because we’re visiting Sophia’s House to prepare a meal for patients and their families! Sophia's House provides a home-away-from-home for patients who travel to Mercy Health Saint Mary's for treatment. It is also a place for families who may live in town but want to be close to their loved one and have a place for respite. #LMCUSantaSquad Saint Mary's Foundati
December 10: Teachers all over the U.S. need our help to bring their classroom dreams to life. The #LMCUSantaSquad chose to fund several projects across our regions that inspired us through Donor's Choose. Consider choosing a project that inspires you and give as you are able. http://ow.ly/JNCb306Z6I8

December 6: The #LMCUSantaSquad teamed up with Romence Gardens & Greenhouses to purchase 35 wreaths for homeowners through Habitat for Humanity of Kent County. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County stays on Santa's "nice list" all-year-round by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
December 5: LMCU employees teamed up with Home Repair Services of Kent County to build a wheelchair ramp for a homeowner in the Wyoming area. December 2: More than 3,500 very sick Michigan residents are waiting today for organ transplants and a new shot at life. Thousands of others need tissue to relieve their pain, heal their wounds and help them see again. You have the power to help them. For our third day of Santa Sqaud, we wanted to thank our members for being organ donors and inspire others to give the gift of life by partnering with Gift of Life Michigan. Stop in your local branch to learn how you can join the registry or pick up a small treat from us if you’re already a donor. Not a donor? Register today! (www.giftoflifemichigan.org/go/lmcu)
December 1: How can you pay it forward? One dollar at a time! As our kickoff to Santa Squad, each employee at LMCU received $1 to pay it forward and join in the spirit of giving. Our employees got to work and came up with some creative ways to give back. Here are just a few of examples: The Sparks Drive Branch combined their dollars and brought treats to the employees at Clark Retirement Community. The Portage Branch pooled their money to buy a Biggby gift card to share with a member. The Account Department combined their dollars and someone in the department decided to match the total department donation. That led to another slew of matching donation offers within the department and soon, they had $60 to give to Kids' Food Basket. Kids' Food Basket matched donations that day making their total donation $120! Nice work team!
