GRAND RAPIDS, MI (January 23, 2017) – Lake Michigan Insurance Agency (LMIA), a division of Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is pleased to announce its acquisition of Goddard-Talmay Insurance of Walled Lake, MI. This merger represents a number of positive developments for the clients of both LMIA and Goddard-Talmay.
Effective January 1, 2017, the Walled Lake offices of Goddard-Talmay will officially become part of LMIA. For the present, both agencies will remain co-branded, but will later become Lake Michigan Insurance Agency exclusively.
Goddard-Talmay’s President, Jon Retherford, is looking forward to a smooth transition. “It has been our distinct privilege and honor to help anchor the north Oakland county business community these many years. We are grateful to our dedicated and hard-working employees and truly excited about this new phase, and to the opportunities that lie ahead. All existing staff will be retained in this acquisition. Longtime Goddard-Talmay agent and broker Tom Bingham and I will continue to run and manage the Walled Lake office. This merger will enable us to greatly expand our products and services lines, and bolster our service levels as well.”
LMIA President of Insurance, Kenneth Jansen, appreciates what Goddard-Talmay brings to the LMCU fold. “We’ve been actively seeking acquisition opportunities to expand our coverage footprint in southeast Michigan. Goddard-Talmay has distinguished itself as a solid community asset that will mesh smoothly with LMIA’s service-first approach. We’re happy to welcome Goddard-Talmay to the LMCU family.”
